In Memory of Harry
TDIAOV, DSR
July 1991 - May 2003
Handler: Charles Bird
It is with a heavy heart that we relay the passing of Harry, owned by Charlie
Bird. Harry was a great big dog, a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Great
Pyrenees. He had a heart to match his size and spread love and comfort wherever
he went. Harry and Charlie were particularly active during the 911 tragedy at
Pier 94 in New York City. Kids and adults alike found comfort by petting and
hugging Harry, who was more than willing to sit with them for as long as they
needed. He was the kind of dog no one forgot, and word spread quickly throughout
Pier 94 about this gentle giant.
The work Harry and Charlie did was invaluable, both at Pier 94 and everywhere they visited. Anything TDI asked of them, they were ready and willing to do. They made the perfect team. Harry was a very special dog and will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.
