"I got Maggie as a 3 year old, who was still a pup, with no discipline. We bonded for a few months and then Dog Obedience entered our lives. She graduated top of the class in Beginners, Advanced, and was trained to work on silent hand commands. We lived in Iowa and introduced pet therapy to the Heart of Iowa Kennel Club and the Mercy Hospital system. We moved to California in 1996, and continued implementing pet therapy to hospitals, nursing homes, and homebound people. I didn't realize how much and how many people's lives she touched, until the letters, cards, emails and calls came from Iowa and California; enough to fill a huge binder that sits on our bookshelf as a memorial of a dog who truly was a Therapy Dog International proud member until she died.
